Gaia was recommended to me by one of the locals. I don't know how to thank him. I loved Gaia. It's the classic New York family run place. Small, intimate. I had the veal ravioli special and my friend had the Gorgonzola gnocchi special. Both were outstanding. We sat next to a lovely woman who owns her own art gallery in the neighborhood and conversed on diverse subjects. When I went to pay for the meal, I received one of the sweetest compliments from the owner of the place-she said: "Thank you for your sparkling eyes!" I'll be back as many times as I can be when I'm in NYC.

I live in Atlanta and have an extensive Restaurant history. But none of that matters. What matters is that Gaia is a memory I hold on to and would come back to NYC just for her. My husband and I have friends here and love to come to visit. When we do, Gaia is the thing to do for us. I could go into the pastas we had but I will hope that just saying Go to Gaia, is enough. Mangie Mangie at Gaia! BYOB and across the street mention at the Liquor store you are going to Gaia and save 10%! Bon Apetit!

I have a gift card for GAIA. It's actually a card that on the back has $50 and signed and says not to be used on Friday or Saturday nights from 6-10. I got it a little bit ago at a fundraising auction (The Taste of the Lower East Side). Is it still valid? Thanks!!

Since eating here 18 months ago I have longed to return. Nowhere, with the possible exception of Italy, is there food as delicious and sustaining. And where else could you find a library of Italian periodicals, and be flattered by the proprietor that "you have the sun in your face"? Simply superlative.

Love Gaia - My favorite restaurant . Just like eating at your Nonna s or in Firenze. world Class

one of the best hidden gems in nyc. delicious food i would pay much more for. have been eating here since it opened. lasagna is a favorite dish.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my sisters and i go here everytime we are in NYC. We crave her food all year long until we can get back. Just LOVE this place!

We've been here several times and simply love it!! It's not like any place I've ever eaten at, but the other day we stopped in while here for my daughter's graduation and again we were blown away by the experience. You will NOT find better homemade Italian dishes anywhere! We tried a number of various ravioli specials along with spinach gnocchi which were all simply fantastic! There was a small 3 layer cake (colors of the Italian flag) that was excellent. I don't normally write reviews, but I can't help praising this tiny Italian eatery!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We found this gem online! It was the best authentic Italian food I have ever had. And the staff is wonderful. Italy has nothing on Gaia. She is amazing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been coming to Gaia for years. It feels like you're walking into someone's kitchen. Yes, there can be a wait, but that's part of the charm and mystique. I have never had anything that doesn't taste utterly amazing- but my favorites are (not in any order): 1. ricotta/spinach gnocchi 2. salads (arugula with tuna)- dressing is so fresh! 3. daily specials 4. paninis Gaia is such a hard worker and she has a real passion for what she does. I have always enjoyed talking with her when dining. I wish there were more places like this in NYC!!!

My girlfriend and I came in last week and had the most lovely time. The food and service were wonderful and we felt so welcomed and cared for while we were there. Can't wait for my next visit to Gaia!

My wife and I were here a bit earlier this year to have a nice birthday meal. We loved the character of the place, the wonderful staff, and food that is true and delicious Italian. Gaia was great, and so was our entire dining experience. Can't wait for our next trip to NYC which will include a hearty, home cooked meal at Gaia Cafe.

After last night's dinner, I'm now trying to plan my next meal at Gaia's. Delicious and healthy, no frills but comfortable, the food and the place are one of a kind. Get one of the specials on the board that day and you won't be sorry.

I took my now-fiancee from Bali here for the first time in the freezing cold winter of 2012-2013. Everything was perfection -- the coffee, the pastries, a number of wonderful side dishes, and the calzone. We've been returning ever since when we are in town. She cannot stop talking about that magical pizza cousin, and nowhere else in the world has measured up. A wonderful cafe: you owe it to yourself to enjoy such quality and value in beautiful Italian food.

As a restaurant owner...thank you so much for defending your restaurant on the review site. So often it's the one sided, disgruntled customer's means of revenge.
